It’s like a ‘Friends’ reunion, but not really.

October 28th, 2009 | No Comments »

It’s been about five years since “Friends” ended, and the six friends that we’ve have known and loved went their separate ways. Now, Phoebe and Monica are going to be reunited, sort of. Lisa Kudrow has signed on to guest star on Courteney Cox’s ABC hit, “Cougar Town.”

According to TV Guide, Kudrow would be playing a dermatologist that Cox’s character can’t stop going to despite the fact that the doctor is mean to her. She is set to start filming her episode by next month with an airdate of early 2010. Apparently, Cox has approached her other “Friends” co-stars such as Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston. It’s hard to say whether or not Perry would come on board for an appearance, but Aniston is probably a sure shot considering their close relationship. Besides, she did make a guest appearance on Cox’s other show “Dirt.”

This show would most likely be closest thing to a reunion of “Friends” you’re going to get. The prospect of an actual “Friends” reunion seems doubtful. But the aspect of reuniting the actors in a different form is more plausible ala the “Seinfeld” reunion on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

With Lisa Kudrow coming to “Cougar Town,” it definitely makes me more excited to watch the series. So far, the show has been amusing. But it’s not really a priority to watch it immediately considering the show is opposite to “Glee.” I’m hoping the show gets better as the season moves on. If more “Friends” stop by, I’ll be more excited to keep watching.

Just one reason why Kudrow coming to “Cougar Town” has the potential to be awesome. Also a classic “Friends” moment.

Friends stars reunite for Cougar Town

October 28th, 2009 | No Comments »

Lisa Kudrow is to be reunited with her former Friends co-star Courteney Cox.

The actress, who played ditzy blonde Phoebe Buffay in the hit US series, will guest star on Courteney’s new TV show Cougar Town early next year.

Cox, 45, told website TVMagazine.com: “She’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though she’s mean to me. She is the best in town and I get addicted.”

Cox, who plays a newly-single mother in her 40s in the programme, would also love to get her other friend Jennifer Aniston a guest spot.

She said: “She’s younger than me so she can’t play my contemporary even though she did on Friends, but I think we can find something great for her to play.”

The pair shared a steamy kiss when Aniston, 40, made a cameo on Cox’s tabloid drama Dirt in 2007.

The brunette beauty also revealed she asked Matthew Perry, who played her on-screen husband Chandler Bing in Friends, to play her love interest in Cougar Town.

Cox – who played cleaning obsessive Monica Geller – said: “I did ask Matthew if he’d play my boyfriend on the show. But he thought it was a little too much after Chandler and Monica.”

At least, that seems to be true for Lisa Kudrow, who will make a guest appearance on Courteney Cox’s new show, “Cougar Town,” reports TV Guide magazine. But the real life buds, who starred as Monica and Phoebe on the hit series “Friends,” may share the small screen in a slightly different way this time.

“If it all works out, she’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though the doctor is mean to me,” Cox told TV Guide. The show’s writers don’t know how it will all work out just yet, but Cox reveals “whatever it is, she’s the best in town at what she does and I become addicted.”

Fans looking for a full on reunion might have to wait a bit longer.

“I did ask Matthew [Perry] if he’d play my boyfriend on the show,” Cox adds, “but he thought it was a little too much after Chandler and Monica.” On “Friends” Monica and Chandler, played by Perry, tie the knot.

Cox also said she’d love to have her pal Jennifer Aniston on the show too, if the right part came along.

“She’s younger than me so she can’t play my contemporary even though she did on Friends,” Cox tells the magazine, “but I think we can find something great for her to play.”

“Cougar Town,” a comedy series about a woman in her 40s and the perils of the modern dating scene, airs Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.

Perry ‘set for new comedy show’

Former Friends star Matthew Perry is set to star and write a new comedy series, which will be broadcast on US TV channel ABC, according to reports.

Trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter said Perry will play a manager of a second-rate sports arena who begins to re-evaluate his life as he turns 40.

Thomas Schlamme, who worked with Perry on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is tipped to direct the series.

Perry, who turned 40 in August, has had a smattering of roles since Friends.

The star, who is best known for playing Chandler Bing, played the older version of Zac Efron in the movie 17 Again.

He was also nominated for awards for his portrayal of inspirational teacher Ron Clark in the TV film, The Ron Clark Story.

In 2007, Perry appeared in the West End production of David Mamet’s Sexual Perversity In Chicago.

It is thought Perry’s new series sparked a bidding war between ABC and NBC, which broadcast Friends between 1994 and 2004
