‘Friends’ co-stars reunite on ‘Cougar Town’

December 3rd, 2009 | No Comments »

LOS ANGELES – Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox have reunited — but don’t expect them to be “Friends.”

The former co-stars will appear back together again on the small screen on Courteney’s new ABC single-camera sitcom “Cougar Town,” with Lisa guest-starring as a mean-spirited dermatologist.

“They didn’t want to play friends,” executive producer Bill Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello. “[Lisa] plays a dermatologist who is a horrible, horrible person, but [Courteney] goes to her because she’s the best.”

And seeing the two face off, he said, should be comedy gold.

“The [sight] of them playing people who dislike each other intensely was very funny for me to watch,” Bill said.

It’s not the first time a former “Friend”, has appeared in a Courteney TV project. In 2007, Jennifer Aniston appeared in a multi-episode arc on the second season of Courteney’s FX drama, “Dirt.”

Lisa’s “Cougar Town” episode is expected to air early next year.

New York: Jennifer Aniston is so impressed by her yoga instructor Mandy Ingber that she is launching a DVD for her. The Friends star has jetted back from her Moroccan break to host a party for Ingber’s DVD Yogalosophy at the Sunset Towers hotel in LA on Thursday.

Aniston, who previously admitted she practices yoga to “quiet her mind”, has even filmed a personal introduction for the video.

“Mandy brought yoga into my life. This workout will change your body and your mind,’ the New York Post quoted Aniston as saying.

The DVD is inspired by a yoga feature that Aniston and Ingber did for Self magazine in 2006.

“Jen works out with Mandy up to five times a week, and they have become such great friends she even takes Mandy on vacation with her. So Jen was delighted to help launch her DVD,” said a source.

Guests that are expected for the launch include Aniston’s best friend, Courtney Cox, and Self Editor-in-Chief Lucy Danziger.

Hollywood actress Courtney Cox Arquette, who had been a part of the ‘Friends’ series, has put an end to the rumours of the series being made into a movie, saying that there are no plans.

When asked if all he cast if the sit-com were part of the silver screen adaptation, Cox, who had essayed Monica in the 10-season series said: “That would be a negative. We’re not. I can’t imagine it. I don’t know. I just can’t imagine that happening.”

“I always thought we should have done a Thanksgiving episode. Once a year, all the Friends’ should get back together and do one episode. And it didn’t happen. I really thought that would be a good idea. But no one’s listening,” she added.

After a brief break, Courteney Cox is back on set of her new show Cougar Town. The show’s production was halted last week when the actress had to attend to a “family matter.” The cast goes back to work when filming resumes on Nov. 30.

There is no word on the nature of Court’s “family matter,” but her reps confirmed to People.com that Courtney, her husband, David Arquette, and their daughter Coco are fine, and that the actress will be returning to work following the Thanksgiving hiatus.

Courtney’s costar Busy Phillips twittered a message to her followers letting them know that the show’s production was “only down one day” and that “we’re back shooting after Thanksgiving. I’ll pass along the love to CC.”

Lisa Kudrow: ‘Everyone Is Too Busy For Friends Movie’

Lisa Kudrow doesn’t think there will ever be a ‘Friends’ movie.

The 45-year-old actress – who played kooky masseuse Phoebe on the US TV show – believes a big screen reunion is unlikely because “everyone is busy”.

Referring to the show’s original writer-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, Lisa said: “I guess they don’t think it’s a good idea… It would be fun, but I don’t know. How? Why? Really? Everyone is busy!”

Lisa previously admitted it would be “fun” to shoot a movie if the other main cast members wanted to.

She said: “If there was a way to figure it out then it could happen.”

Courteney Cox-Arquette – who played Monica on the show – was reportedly desperate to star in a movie version too.
